    A Common Spiritual Practice

Just the first paragraph reveals clearly everything that is worth knowing - in itself it is a meaningful object of knowledge.
Basically it is a list of things to do:

    1. perform virtuous [positive] actions
    2. abandon non-virtuous [negative] actions
    3. control delusions
this is all the practice of Dharma in one place

But when we begin our practice we have many questions, doubts, which lead us to ideas of discouragement and maybe to abandon what we actually know to be true.

As we begin our practice our laziness is a big obstacle and it is interfering with our whole life not only with our Dharma practice.
If you have problem with practicing Dharma this is probably a problem you have with yourself and this in turn will manifest itself in different ways at work, with family, friends, etc

  • Session 1

    Faith

  • Session 2

    • Sense of Shame & Consideration for Others
    • 3 Non - Attachment, Hatred, Ignorance
    • Effort
  • So a deepr or more refined approach to our situation is needed.

This is why Geshela takes the basic practice of abandoning non-virtue, practicing virtue and destroying our delusions and to help us do just this he gives us more practices that support the main body.

  • So:

    1. faith
    2. Sense of Shame and consideration for others
    3. Non: Attachment, Hatred, Ignorance
    4. Effort
  • What does the practice of Faith means?

    • developing three attitudes of faith
      • Admiring = Rejoicing in purity of EB
      • Believing = EB are present even though we do not see them
      • Wishing = for ourself to become just like EB!
  • Root of all pure spiritual attainments!
    => main practice!

  • 3 Jewels

    • Buddha = EB
    • Dharma = teachings
    • Sangha = practitioners gaining realizations

3J - object of faith and refuge

    • Jewels = Precious
  • Mind is burnt without faith!

    • Faith induces intention to practice => effort => realizations
  • Faith is essential
Because intellectual understanding alone does not reduce our delusions.

    • might cause pride => increase delusions!!
    • Faith is to be cherished!!
