A bus ride from Little India to Pudu Sentral
Little India is an ethnic district in the magnificient city of Singapore. It is located to the east of the Singapore river just across China Town which is located to the west of the river. Little India has recently been included in the Urban planning categories. It is referred to by the local Indians as Tekka. It falls under the Raffles Plan of Singapore and was originally a division of Colonial Singapore. Little India is reported to have developed around a settlement which was earlier meant for Indian residents.
There is a mix of products on the street ranging from clothes, perfumes, consumer electronics and various apparels. I would recommend you to visit Little India only when you are completely done exploring the rest of Singapore. This is because while booking my Bus tickets from https://www.redbus.sg/ for Malaysia Little India was the bus boarding point. Not only is this place a major market place but also served as a huge transportation hub.
Various Bus operators have their booths spread across the street. There are quite a few 24 hour shopping centres on the street and Sim Lim Square is one of them. The Sim Lim Square is a major electronics hub which is only a few minutes away from Little India MRT Station. It is located to the North of the Bugis region and houses hundreds of computers, cameras, phones and various other gadgets. It is considered to be Singapore’s largest IT Mall that has more than 200 stores spread across its 6 floors. The best part about this place is that the prices of the products are quite cheaper compared to products that are sold online as well as in the Market. If you get bored looking at the gadgets there are also quite a few restaurants and cafes where you can make an escape too. Make sure to try out Manzeel Tandoor and Joyful noodles.
The Mall is open from 10:30 am in the morning till 9:00 pm in the night. Make sure to book your bus tickets in the afternoon so that you get sufficient time to shop at this place. There are about 3 Operators plying on this route between Little India and Pudu Sentral. Startmart Express, Transstar and Konsortium are some polular Operators that serve on this route. KKKL Travel and Tours has about 4 buses plying throughout the day starting from 5:30 am in the morning till 6:30 am. The duration of the journey is about 5 hours. If you take a morning bus you can reach earlier. However, at this time of the morning Little India is completely closed and you wont miss out on the shopping experience. If you are not keen on shopping I would recommend you to book at this time. The One Travel and Tours is another Operator plying at 2:00 pm in the afternoon which is one of the perfect time to depart from Malaysia as you will have plenty of time to shop at Little India. However, the tickets for the One Travel and Tours are little on the costlier side at SGD40 compared to the prices of Starmart Express which were SGD35.
