#Video Scripts ##Relationship Repair System ##Video Script 1 Hi it's Kevin, and I sometimes glance at facebook posts by other people and some of them can be useful. I saw this thought-provoking quote from a gal named Anaïs Nin who was born in 1903 - so, she’s got that old school wisdom. Anyway, the quote goes like this: “Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.” Well in summary it basically says: Love doesn’t just “end”... It can be strengthened and repaired but if left alone it will end because of the errors we make. Right now, nearly any relationship can be saved if you take the right actions right away… AND you can stop them from starting a new relationship with someone else because you’ll make your relationship better than before. I’m not only going to show you how the smartest marketers in the world are crushing it with simple, inexpensive, easy to do video marketing strategies ... you’ll also hear from a group of “regular folks” – and these are people who are NOT mega-gurus - who are just KILLING it with video. I’m not only going to show you how the smartest relationship experts have amazing heart melting relationships with simple, counter-intuitive habits that are easy to do… you’ll also hear from a group of “regular folks” - and these are people who are NOT world-class experts - who are just have the best relationship in their life after a near failure. And MORE IMPORTANT, I’m going to show you how you can repair your relationship… (and you don’t need a master’s in psychology, you don’t need to spend years studying material, and you definitely don’t need to give up your dignity. But let’s back up for a minute… ya see, 1 year ago my relationship was nearly on the brink of ending. So I’ve had the last year to apply what I teach my coaching clients and see it work first-hand like I always saw it working through my clients. You see, when my relationship was on the brink of death, I’ve spent my time searching my cummulative knowledge and teachings to actually save my relationship... I’m talking about deep diving into techniques and guides from some of the most respected relationship gurus in the world and coming up short... And here’s the bottom line thing that I kept coming back to - no matter what I did, when I tried to use some “technique” that I learned to manipulate my partner back, it failed. In technique after technique, it did two things REALLY well. It created distance between me and her and it made her start hating me. Of course, I suppose if you wanted to end your relationship faster, those are two really great things to start with. So, lets start off by talking about what it really takes to save a relationship, about how certain habits we do that are actually more important than any technique we can learn. First, let me ask you a question - you’re in a tough spot with your relationship right? You want to pull them back to you so you can have the love of your life back and feel secure in knowing they won’t leave you for someone else, right? And you’ve seen happy couples whether in your friends or family or out at the movie and sometimes wished you could have that again. So, what did you notice about the happy couples that was beyond techniques and beyond trickery that made them seem so in love? It was how they communicated with each other. And there’s a reason for that. And good communication works for a lot more than making them deeply in love with each other, but growing love is definitely something you’ve seen - and what you need to know is that when the smartest relationship experts in the world are using this technique as a basis for any relationship - it’s something you need to pay attention to. Here’s just a few examples of the relationships where I worked up close and personal on the communication that was vital to saving their relationship: [Fill In examples] Dan Thies and Leslie Rohde launched the SEOBrainTrust coaching program. They asked me to get their first promotional video off the ground – just a short 4 and a half- minute video that I did with slide show software. SEOBrainTrust had a six-figure launch in its first month and is on pace to do around One Million Dollars in sales this year. Then my buddy, Colorado Slim, AKA Jeff Walker asked me to help him make videos to launch a coaching program called “Product Launch Manager”. We did 4 reallllly simple videos for the launch – and when I say simple, I mean like the most challenging issue was my awful typing skills and my inability to spell words with more than 2 syllables. Product Launch Manager had a 7 Figure launch (and I do mean over $One Million Dollars) in its first 12 hours. You probably heard about this one - just last month, Amish Shah and Jay Styles launched their Magic Bullet Software and Training Program. Frank Kern and Trey Smith worked elbow to elbow with Amish and Jay on the launch, and when it came time to do the sales video (because they didn’t even USE a sales letter) – I started making the video at 5pm on Friday, and by Saturday at 1pm, we were all looking at it online. The Magic Bullet System had a multi-million dollar launch in just a few hours. The bottom line? Those simple videos racked up over 5 million dollars in sales and those sales took about 2 or 3 days to happen. My friend, conscious good communication habits saves relationships. I know you know this, but for whatever reason, you’ve only messed around with figuring out the habits in your communication style that hurt your relationship, or you haven’t done it at all. Maybe you think it’s a fad, or you’re gonna wait until more testing has been done. Let me save you the trouble – lets look as someone who’s already tested and figured it out. [Insert Example] I want to show you what Amazon is doing with it’s most successful product ever – the kindle. Amazon tests the HEYLL out of everything they do. And right here on their product page for the kindle, the VERY first thing they eye sees-is-A Video. This Video occupies the most valuable screen real-estate that an Amazon product page has. This area of the page is even more powerful than the area MOST people incorrectly think is most important – the Customer Reviews. And it’s not like this product doesn’t have any reviews – it’s got over 10,000. No No, Amazon decided that in the most valuable area of the product page - of their most successful product -- they’d have a video. And are you looking at this video? It’s SO simple. Just a short, easy little video with NO Actor or Spokesperson, one slightly annoying bit of stock music, a bunch of still photos that zoom and pan around, and some text that moves. You could do a video like this in nothing more than Mircrosoft’s PowerPoint or Apple’s keynote. And you could do it in about 2 hours – it’s only a couple of minutes long. So ask yourself, if Amazon isn’t creating Expensive, Glitzy, super complicated video on their Featured Product’s sales page – should you? And if being nervous about your Hollywood skillz is stopping you (cause it aint stopping ole Amazon ) – maybe you should think about video again. **end example** Communication simply rocks in repairing your relationship – now lets talk about stopping the growing distance between you and your partner. But before I start talking about how communication is THE KILLER distance stopper first, I need to tell you why repairing your relationship is absolutely CURSED. WOA! What I’m about to tell you is far more important than any of the tricks the relationship guru's try to teach you. Here’s the thing, MOST people actually AVOID using video because they’re afraid of it, they’re afraid of the technology, they’re intimidated and they incorrectly think that it takes too much time or costs way too much Here's the thing, MOST people actually AVOID facing the elephant in the room in a relationship. You know, the elephant is that big ass problem that's there but no one wants to admit it or talk about it... because they're afraid of it, they're afraid of what COULD happen, they're intimidated and they incorrectly think it might make things worse or even end the relationship completely. Well, trust me... all those assumptions are DEAD WRONG. Actually, you don't have to trust me - I'm going to PROVE IT to you in this video series. But here's the REALLY GOOD NEWS... because of those incorrect assumptions, there's a HUGE OPPORTUNITY for you... because admitting your relationship is over or is challenge to fix is actually the first step to repairing a relationship! Here's what I mean - you know that when you hear someone who always tells you "I've changed, and it won't happen again" we know they'll do it again and again so we discount anything they say after that. If you're doing that right now, asking for forgiveness, telling your partner you've changed, well... they'll feel the complete opposite from you. They'll think you're trying to manipulate them to stay with your "story" and they've heard it plenty of times before from you and if not you, from someone previous in their life. Just bear with me... I want to show an example. Lets say you’re a baker – it could happen. And you wanted to rank for “How to Bake a Cake”. If we search for that phrase in Google, the site that ranks number 1 in the whole universe is How Stuff Works – also known as the The Learning Channel. Greaaat. I don’t know about you, but as a baker, all wanted to do today is wake and bake some delicious chocolate cake – my idea of a good time is NOT competing in the Search Engines with the TLC. In fact, lets just run TLC’s web page through Yahoo’s back link checker – now stay with me -- Ya see, Back Links are the majority of what makes a page rank well in a search engine – there’s a couple of other important factors, but back links (which are links from other pages on the web pointing to your web page) play a major part in your rankings. So, Yahoo says that this page has over 800 links. Dayum, that’s a lot. Like I said – competing with a web site that’s got it’s own cable channel is not what I had in mind today. But lookey here – Video Results – right on that ole Google.... Lets look at this result – it’s a video on HowCast.com. Oh My Word Clearly, our friend isn’t a slick and polished professional videographer. And, doesn’t seem likes he’s an online marketer either. The point is, this is your competition in the video space. So, firsts things first, we’re competing with amateurs, not marketing professionals with the staff of Dreakworks on speed-dial. – so, we’ve got that one going for us. But here’s the real juice – this is why the curse of video marketing is your golden ticket: Lets do the same back links thing we did with the #1 search engine result from TLC, but lets do it on this video on HowCast – we’ll just run it through Yahoo’s back link checker. Oh hello. 12 Links. Well, don’t get too excited because maybe that’s an anomaly – what about this video result from YouTube? Let’s check out the video.... Oh dear Lord. I’m thinking that this was shot on one of them old VHS camcorders – you know, the kind from the 1970’s where the camera has a huge cable that connects it to one of those dinosaur vhs decks? We better stop this before the elevator music soundtrack turns us all into stone. Okay – it’s not a great video, but it’s in the #4 spot in Google, it’s the first video result and according to yahoo, it’s got 12 back links too. Allow me to recap: Today, you have a choice – you can compete against The Learning Channel web page for web page against all of their professional designers and writers and cake-baking cooks, and while you’re at it, get 800 some odd links into that page – that PAGE. Or... You can go head to head with THIS GUY, or compete with this 1970’s ish high- school biology class quality video and get a dozen incoming links. And oh, btw, take a look at the number of views this crummy little cake video’s got... Yep – that’s 103,015. Hellooo Beautiful. Lemme ask you a question – do you think these people know a lot about online video? Of course they don’t - I mean, it’s obvious - that’s one of the beauties of video - you KNOW when it’s bad. But it doesn’t matter because ven by watching the next couple of videos in this series, you’re going ot learn enough to completely separate yourself from these guys. And while I’m in an inquisitive mood – how about a little follow up question – do you think they know a lot about marketing? ! Exactly. Bad Video from people who are not even marketers is getting ranked, getting traffic and getting massive results. Now look, of course there’s going to be markets that are more competitive than cake baking. But in every example like this that I’ve done, videos have ranked great in the search engines with FAR less SEO effort than regular web pages. I think that it’s only a matter of time before your visitor won’t think you’re even legitimate, let alone want to buy anything from you if you DON’T have video on your site – which means now is the TIME to take advantage of the HUGE gaps and utter lack of skilled competition. And this is where we get into the “Video is Cursed” part of this conversation. You’ve seen it – you’ve seen the huge launches all done with video… You’ve seen how video ranks great in the search engines all over the place… And you’ve seen how major companies like Amazon are FEATURING video as part of their sales process… And here’s a little quote from an old rag sometimes referred to as “The Paper of Record” – also known as “The New York Times” The headline reads “Online Ads are BOOMING – IF they’re attached to video”. This article is amazing in the way it talks about what should now be obvious to you – it says that video marketing is the fastest-growing segment of Internet Advertising. The FASTEST GROWING SEGMENT. But Video’s reputation is CURSED. And I’ll bet you know what I’m about to say about this. I haven’t done any scientific testing or anything like that, but I’m pretty sure that I’ve been a party to, created more, or have been consulted more about online video marketing than just about anyone in this little market of ours. And time and time again, even when I’m talking to experienced, successful business owners, I hear the same old fears about using video. The first thing they tell me is it’s WAY too expensive. They show me adverts for video cameras that cost $2,000 or even $20,000. Then I get emails from them freaking out that have links pointing to $500 microphones. They show me web pages with $2,000 video editing software, and $ 10,000 workstation-class computers. They’re afraid. They’re afraid of the costs, the complexity, and of looking like a weirdo- stalker-politician on video. Friend, rest your mind. Let me just tell you what the last 3 video campaigns that I worked on all had in common – you know, the last 3 videos that made over FIVE million dollars combined? Yeah, see, I used a piece of software called Keynote. It’s just like Power Point, on mac. In fact, in many ways, it’s LESS powerful that PowerPoint. Which is why the other half of the time, I USE PowerPoint. Oh, and I used a $45 microphone – just a little USB jobber that I picked up at Target. Heh. I mean, for Jeff Walkers launch, I just used one of the Stock themes that comes with Keynote! Sorry Jeff. Did I have a barn-burner of a computer? Not for Magic Bullet – I did that on a laptop that’s over a year old. And when I do shackle myself to my desk, that computer is almost 3 years old! What about a fancy camera? Well, Allow me to explain – and fair warning, I might get a little personal... I can’t STAND being on video. Cannot-stand-it. You can say that 40 is the new 30 all you want, but that memo didn’t get to my hair-line, waist, complexion, or my arse! And you know how they say that the camera adds 20 pounds? That’s not true – it adds 40, at least on me. So, I’ve ALWAYS hated being on camera – which is why in 50 some odd marketing videos where I’ve been the author – where it was my voice marketing my product... my mug -- in the form of live video -- has only ever been in 5. And I’m the video dude! The thing is, I MARKET with video – I never wanted to be an actor, I just want to help people sell more stuff –and sometimes sell my own! – so I use video because it’s more effective than anything I’ve ever tried - I just don’t use the live , in-person on camera kind if I can help it. This is how I sketched out I get - I remember being so freaked out about getting in front of camera for a launch video I was doing I think it was the 3rd video for Don Crowther’s SMARTS launch (which crushed it, btw) that I animated a cartoon character and lip synched his mouth to my voice – all because I’m weirded-out about being on camera – and this video is no exception. Meaning, you don’t even NEED a camera. Just make slides! And even if you want to like show video of your products in action, or demonstrate how something works, you don’t need an EXPENSIVE camera. I’ll make ya a bet – If I showed you 2 different bits of live video from one camera that costs almost 8 grand and another camera that costs about a buck fifty, you wouldn’t really care which was which – until you had to buy it. So, why aren’t you getting tons of traffic and closing huge percentages of your visitors with video again? You know what? Don’t answer that because I think I know why, but before we get into that, I want tell you about some cool people who are NOT internet Marketing Guru types. In fact, they haven’t done a big product launch but they DO use video to help get TONS of traffic and sell TONS of their products. In the next video, I’m going to give away some secrets that I got from some non-guru, non-internet marketing, non-professional video marketers. One guy, James, created a short, 3 minute video for his dog that got over 4 MILLION VIEWS. And he’ll talk about how he did it. And another dude, Robert, talks about the techniques he used to grow to over 90,000 visitors a month using video for a yoga site. But that’s not all – in these case-studies, they’ll give up some key tips that they use for creating their videos, and how in one case, and I’m not sure how to say this – is it Quintupled? Whatever -- how one guy multiplied his sales by 5 times – just using video to sell. But you know what the best part is! They’re NOT professional Videographers, or trained video editors, or public speakers – most of them don’t ever appear anywhere in their video and they made it all up as they went. They just sorta copied some of what they saw me do for my videos, threw it up on their site, and waited for the results. In one interview, a school-fundraiser named Dan talks about how he uploaded a video, went for lunch, and came back to a first page ranking in Google. In this video, the 2nd installment of “Online Video Gets More Money than Anything”, it’s time to get serious - I’m gonna show you the fastest way I know how to create a powerful sales video that you can use to sell your info products, your physical products, services, and even promote affiliate offers. And here’s another bit of good news – I’ve broken my process down into 5 logical steps – you can just follow along, and by the time you’re done, you’ll have a video – I know, scary, right? I’m also going to show you how I use popular and powerful software tools, and show resources where you can get awesome, inexpensive Graphics, Animation and Sound tracks, and most importantly, give you a rapid-script building blue print that’s head- slapping simple, but cranks out powerful video messages Like a BOSS. If you haven’t seen the first, introductory video, I’d encourage you to watch it. There’s a link just above this video that will take you right to it. Before I show you the five part process, I just wanted to thank EVERYONE for the over 700 amazing comments that you left on the first video. Your support just makes me that much more passionate about getting you started making videos for your business. And, uh...heh...inside joke – yes, it was cold the day I shot the live video… We’re gonna start by making video that closes the sale – this is a video that you’ll use for the end of the visitor decision making experience, and what I mean is, right now, you might already have an ecommerce store, an info product, be selling services, or even be promoting affiliate offers. So, what I want to do is show you how to make a video that is the last thing that your traffic will see as they’re making a decision to buy. Because, if you’re already trying to sell your stuff or promote other peoples stuff, adding a video into the mix could start getting you much better results as soon as you publish it. And less wait for more profit is always good. Now, I’m gonna move fast, because I have a tendency to go On and On about this stuff because I dig it – so if you fall behind, you can always watch it a few times until you’ve got what you need. Step 1 – Scripting Like a Boss First things first – you need to know what to say in your video. Here-to-fore, we’re gonna call that a script. Heh. And let me just tell you something, the better the script, the happier the viewer. Luckily for us, there’s more than a few ways to write a script – and what I’m about to show you is the FASTEST way. Here’s the deal – first, grab a bit of paper, open up a document in your word processor, fire up evernote, or whatever you do to jot down stuff. The first thing I want you to do is go to whatever products sales page you’re trying to sell. This is usually the page right before they add it to their shopping cart. Now, if you don’t have one, still follow along, because this is a FORMULA that you can use even if you don’t have any copy to model from or are just starting out with making sales video and need a script to go along with it. Lets do an example together. Lets say that you’re promoting the Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera. Which is a GREAT little pocket camera, BTW. So good, in fact – remember the 2 clips of comparison video that I showed you in the first video? Where I compared the video from a eight thousand dollar Sony Ex-3 video camera with the Hundred and Fifty dollar camera? Well, that camera was the Zi8. Pretty tough to tell the difference, eh? And the better news is, while Amazon has it for 179, but you can do a little snooping around and find it for that buck fifty. Lets get back to writing our script – This is called the FAB technique – and that stands for Feature, Advantage, Benefit – which you’ve probably heard of before. To make a video script, what we’re going to do is SHOW our viewers the Features ON The Screen, and SAY what the Advantages and Benefits are with our voice – also known as a Voice Over. For example: On this product page on Amazon, they went ahead and gave us a list of Product Features. So, lets write those down, or copy and paste them into our word processor. Next, our Job is to write the Advantages and Benefits of each Feature. Lets do one together: Take Full HD 1080p Videos wherever you go – Feature. Well, whats the Advantage to that? – Full 1080P is the Highest Standard of High Definition Video available so… Benefit, your videos will capture every important detail, from your kids cheerful smile, the triple base hit from your softball league, and those funny moments that you’ll cherish forever.[Frisbee fail] Sounds pretty good so far, eh? Now, it goes without saying that you’ll need a bit of a clue about the product you’re talking about, but I’m going to assume that if you’re trying to sell it, then you’ve got that part covered. If not, there’s always Wikipedia. And that’s how you write a FAB script to SELL something. How simple is that? And I need to tell you that just because it’s simple doesn’t mean that it’s not effective. This formula is the basis for some of the most successful sales videos, infomercials, and direct response advertising that I’ve seen – so start writing – just go through each Feature and come up with a sentence or two worth of Advantages and Benefits. This is 70% of the ball game, right here. Now, we need a way to start off our video script – and I’m gonna borrow from Me, if that’s okay with you. In all of your videos, you have 8-15 seconds to get your viewers attention. That’s not a lot of time, but its time enough to speak and show a statement that will keep them engaged long enough to GET to your message. So, try this structure: In this video, I’m going to show you why the Kodak Zi8 is going to revolutionize the way you make your personal videos, and why it might be the only video camera you’ll ever need, saving you money and making it simple to create your video. The formula is very simple – always start out with “In this video” because that’s what you want the viewer to concentrate on – you might THINK you want them to concentrate on the product in the vide, but you don’t – and that’s a little bit of kung-fu that I’ve picked up over the years – tell them what to expect from the VIDEO because they’re engaging that separately from the product – it’s a different object to their pshyche– then they’ll be open to the rest of the message. Trust me, this works. And, btw, I’ve used this trick on you before. Heh. The second part of that opening statement is The Key Outcome for the viewer – what they’ll get. And the last part of that statement is why the product will help them. In this case, if it’s the only video camera they’ll need – it will save them money, time figuring out new stuff, trips to the store… See? It’s not rocket science – it’s just a formula - that works over and over again. No need to invent something clever, because most of the time, New, Clever stuff doesn’t have sales stats – this formula does. It works. Okay, so step 1 is to write your script Then lets talk about putting it into a visual form. Step 2 – Style, like a Boss. We’re going to use Microsoft Power Point or Apple’s Keynote to create our presentation. It’s your choice, and the apps both have the same purpose. So don’t stress out if you don’t know which one to use – pick one and decide if you like it later. And Remember, there’s usually a free trial that you can get before you spend any money. Now, we need to get a look and style going – and if you’re a graphic designer, rock on wit your bad self. If you’re not, lets go get a template FROM some professional designers. Key point here - Friend, you will NEVER be short of design resources, both cheap and FREE, as long as you got the interwebz at your disposal. Go to Google, search Free PowerPoint Template or PowerPoint Template. Check out some sites, like this one. Search for the kind of template you want – since in this case, we’re selling a camera, lets search video camera, and oh, look – a template with a dude holding a pocket camera. How utterly convenient. So, lets open our presentation app, I’m gonna have both Keynote and Powerpoint open, cause I love multi-tasking. Now, open our shiny new template, and lets create some slides. Step 3 – Slides, Like a Boss Here’s what we’re gonna do – take your FAB copy, and build the text on your slides first. That means, for each feature, you’re going to type that Feature Statement on a slide, and on your script, you’re going to READ to the viewer The Feature, the Advantages and Benefits of that feature. Quick Sales-Psychology Tip – A Feature is by definition, a Quantity of something – in our example, our first feature is Full HD 1080p Video – that’s a Type of Video – it’s a quantity of resolution. That’s a Intellectual or Logical statement – and so we want our viewers to SEE Features. And don’t worry about images yet – that’s the 2nd part of our creation. Now, the reason we’re Only going to READ our Advantage and Benefit statements to our viewer is because they’re usually QUALITY statements - Which have Emotional Value. We’re about to put on our Ninja Video Maker outfit – so stay with me. Can you remember the difference between reading the words “I Love You” on a card, vs hearing the words spoken by the person you were crazy about? It’s totally different, right? You remember that moment in time, the place, the colors, the sound of your heart about to explode in your chest, Yanni’s greatest hits playing in the background.. Hearing Statements that have emotional value causes resonation – the words cause the FEELINGS to stay with you – and that’s exactly what we want our viewer to experience. But that’s not all we’re gonna do... Lets make the propeller on our viewers beanie spin... But not just yet. So, go through your script, adding a new slide for each Feature. Once you’re done, we’re going to do a graphics pass and create some emotional visual impact. In this part of the process, we’re going to add images to our slides, so they look all fancy. Step 4 – Graphics and Animation Like a Boss First, we want to go to each slide that has a feature and add a correspondingly relevant image. Like, if you’re selling physical products, the manufacturer probably has supplied some professional photography or artwork of the product. If you’re a authorized retailer (and you know if you are) or an authorized affiliate, they’ve probably already given you access to that art. Try to add images that show the features in action – so if one of the features is Compact size, try showing an image of the size of the product in relation to a larger competitor. Go through your slides and add those feature images, because our next step is to go Ninja and Boss-Like, and add Emotional Images – which help seal the deal between you and your viewer. Okay – remember how we said that we want to SAY the Advantages and benefits so that hearing the words cause emotion? Good – Now, we’re going to dial up the impact. In addition to a Feature Image, now we want to look for an Emotional Image and add it to that slide. For example – remember in the last video when I showed you why people don’t use video? It was this slide here – See how I have the Statement - Most Marketers are Freaked out by video? Under that are 3 bullet points – Afraid of Technology, Afraid of Costs, and Afraid of losing time. Which are more or less Features. What I did is find some images that help illustrate those bullet points emotionally – even if they are somewhat tonge in cheek. Here’s a dude running away from a gear – I just want to thank most web 2.0 software for making the Gear a symbol of Software Settings the world over. And here’s a guy nearly being crushed by money, and here’s a dude struggling to carry the heavy burden of time. See how I did that? I wrote what I meant, and use images to reach beyond Logic and Fact and help them understand the emotion of what I was trying to say. And that, my friend, is making Video LIKE A BOSS. Seriously, it took me years of working in the business, spending six figures going to NYU film school, editing hundreds of commercials and dozens of infomercials and feature films to figure out the relationship between what’s written, whats said, and whats seen. And just to prove my point, here’s a shot of some analytics of the first video in this series. This is viewer engagement stats – how long the viewer sticks around to watch this video. Now, here’s the thing, in most cases, you LOSE 25% of your audience in the first 2.5% of your video. Well, in this case, notice how most of the people on this page are staying for the entire video – some are even watching it twice.. Like a BOSS. That’s why you want to help define the emotion of your Advantages and Benefits with visuals. Okay – so where are you gonna find these images? Once again – the interwebz to the rescue! Hit that google and search Royalty Free Stock Images – SCREECH! Okay, lets have a heart to heart, shall we? The companies on this page represent the CRÈME DE LA CRÈME of Stock Images. There’s stuff in some of their vaults that is simply UNBELEIVEABLE – gorgeous, clever, awe-inspiring... And it costs an ARM and a love handle. For example – here’s a SINGLE IMAGE for two hundred beans. Great Googely Moogely. Fear not – Old Andy Jenkins is a renown bargain hunter from back in the outlet mall shopping days. Try this: Search for Clip Art. See this result – ClipArt.com? These folks are one of the best values that I know of on the web. We’re talking 15 bucks for a weeks worth of un-restricted access and that’s more than enough time to get the images you need. And they don’t just have clip art – they’ve got photos, photo objects (which are terribly handy for our needs), Illustrations, and other pretty shiny things. And you know how sometimes I show cool little animations in my videos? I’m totally cheating... well, at least most of the time – heh. Look right here – seems like Clip Art.com and this company called Animation Factory are in kahoots. Point, Click – BAM _ Heeeyy – Moving stuff, and power point templates, Photos, and Clip Art and and and. ONE YEAR of their gold membership costs about 60 bucks. That’s like 5 bucks a month, yo. Check out the math skillz. And btw, if you search for FREE Clip Art or FREE Royalty Free Images, you MIGHT find some good stuff – just keep in mind that sometimes you have to jump through a few hoops and register for stuff, get on mailing lists, etc. So go through your slides, and add images that you think illustrate the emotional meaning of your Advantages and Benefits. Now that you’ve done that, lets make it all move. Here’s something to think about – one of the reasons I like to keep stuff on the screen moving, is because every time something moves, flys in, or changes, it RE-SETS the viewers attention span – and that’s pretty helpful, don’t ya think? I really get too much credit for how my videos seem so snazzy – seriously, it’s all in the software. First, let me give you a bit of Friendly advice – do you know what RTFM means? No? It stands for READ the FABULOUS Manual. Seriously, take a bit of time to understand the power of PowerPoint or Keynote, like I did, and you’ll see that you can do some pretty cool things with these crazy apps. The first thing we want to do is set up transitions – that means, the movement that occurs between each slide. You can do this on a Slide by Slide basis, or you can do it globally, just select all of the slides and chose an transition animation. Some of these are cool. And notice how easy that was. Right now, if you were to go into presenter mode and preview your show, you’d already have the beginnings of a pretty sweet presentation. Now, lets dial it up a notch. You can add entry, or build animation to every element you have on a slide. All you do is select that element, then pick what kind of animation you want it to do, then select the next one, pick what you want it to do, and keep doing that until you’ve got the entire slide building onto the screen. Just add the animations in the order that you want them to happen, which is usually dictated by order of words on your script – and you’ll see that you can trigger each animation with nothing more than a mouse or keyboard click. Fair warning, this might take you 15 minutes to fully figure out, but it will be time well spent. Hey... Congratulations – you just set up a powerful video presentation, one that most scardey cat marketers will NEVER do. Now, all we need to do is record it, to turn it into a video. Step 5 Performance, Like a Boss. The first thing you’re going to do is practice – you’re going to read your script and step through the slides a few or a dozen times until you’ve got it down pat. And here’s a tip – I want you to imagine that you’re using your script to tell a story to your best friend. Concentrate on having a conversation – that’s all I do and it seems to work out real good. Just go into presentation mode, start reading and advancing through the slides as you read the script. See how that works? And to think most folks were afraid of this a few days ago. If you see anything that’s wonky, just hit the escape key, fix it, and pick up your practice where you left off. All right, you’ve rehearsed your performance, now we’ve got to record it. In Keynote, it’s very complicated and difficult – you use the RECORD slide show function. Heh. Before you do that, plug in your microphone or whatever you’re going to be using to record your sound. Then hit Record and the presentation starts, you start reading your script and working your way through the slides. When you get to the end slide, it stops recording automatically. Then you use the Export Function and it makes you a movie file. Ta Dah! On powerpoint, it’s the same idea, except that you’re going to need to use a screen recorder application like camtasia to record your slide show. BTW. Here’s a free screen recorder app called camstudio if you don’t want to spend the money on Camtaisa just yet. But Also, keep in mind that Camtaisa has a fully functional free trial, too. So, you start up your presentation in Windowed Mode. Then start up your screen capture software, start it recording, then do your presentation. Just double check that your mic signal is being recorded, and do yor thang! THAT’S IT! You’ve made a fancy video! In the next video, I’m gonna tell you what to DO with the video you just made – ya know, were to host it, where to distribute it to start getting you rankings, etc etc. But remember, the first thing we’re gonna do with this video is put it in the site where we’re getting traffic already so it can help grab us some MORE sales from the stream of visitors we already have. Um... seriously – that’s 90% or so of what I do to make a cool video. Now, of course, you can go to places like Digital Juice to get music and sound effects, and you can drop your movie file into your video editing software to tune it up and cut out the bad bits – but the fact is, starting with the FAB formula, and using text and images strategically is MOST of what makes my videos keep viewers glued to the screen not just once, but in some cases, TWICE. You can DO this – in just a few minutes I’ve shown you what I do to make killer marketing videos – and you’re about to hear from some people that didn’t have this information that still smoked their competition. I really enjoy teaching, so I really LOVED making the video for you – I hope your brain is spinning with ideas and craftiness about making video. Believe it or not, I read EVERY comment (Cousin Andy don’t sleep much during launches, y’all), and just like before you had some pretty specific questions about video making. Hey, I can help. So before I start the short-course on Traffic-Getting for Video, lemme show you how I made that cute little teaser video and answer some of your questions at the same time. I’m gonna give you some tips on screen recording, some geeky technical stuff, some web resources where you can audition stunning sound tracks, and tell you how to use your headset mic to make your voice have that velvety delicious sound. Lets BOSS it, everybody. Let me tell you why this Google Ad made me weep like a girl. In just 52 seconds I got to be the ultimate voyeur and watch the most timeless story of the human experience unfold right before my eyes – the insanity of love. Think about the perfect simplify of this video – art student study’s abroad - a chance meeting at a café makes him want to learn things, eat chocolate study film, manscape, and bathe. Then, he decides. He goes for it. And the story doesn’t just end – their lives begin with probably some ikea crib assembly. He was an art-student after all. What makes this almost insultingly simple video blow our collective hair back into an 80’s style mullet? It’s very simple –And this is a HUGE Attention GRABBER and KEEPR. it’s the Journey we take with the characters. In the absence of any other stimuli like pitchuez, our mind fills in the images that WE would experience, and the beat of the music and the progression of their journey hooks us deep and takes us on a ride. It’s brilliant. But not that hard. That little knock off I did at the beginning of this video was started on a Tuesday after dinner and I was showing to my buddies late that evening. But Consider this when you start thinking about spicing up your video scripts: Think about all of the potential outcomes that YOUR products can have on your customers daily experience. Hey, I made up a rhyme so you can remember - What story can you help them tell once they own the stuff you sell? So, when you’re creating your videos, you always want the goal to be helping your customers, by giving them information they need make the right decision. Show with images them how your product can start them off on their own journey. I mean, consider this - In googles ad, there were just 12 bits of text entered as search terms. I dare you to do better. One of the reasons I did my version is so I can show you some thangs! This part won’t take but a moment. Like before, I’m gonna hustle on through so I can give you as much info as possible. Remember, you can always watch it more than once. First things first – this video is entirely screen capture. I just lit up FireFox on my machine, launched a screen capture program called ScreenFlow, and started entering in the text terms that I wrote for my little skit. Now, couple of important things – first, you can use ScreenFlow, Camtaisia, Cam Studio, QuickTime X – really, anything that will record what you do on your computer and save the action as some sort of movie file. Second, and this will come in handy if you do a lot of demonstrations with web sites in your browser – I wanted to make the text in my web browser as clean as possible, so I made it BIG. What I did was use the magnification function on FireFox – I hit the Command and Plus Buttons, and see how it makes the text big? That’s important because in this little skit, I zoom WAY in on some text during some of the scenes. And sometimes, if you zoom in too much, you start to see something called aliasing – that where you can see the actual pixels that make up the image. By magnifying the text right in the browser, it helps me avoid some of that rattiness. And btw, if you want to reset your magnification settings back to their original, just hit Command ZERO, like a hero. So, I just started ScreenFlow, which captures the entire area of my desktop, entered my script text into google, gave my mouse some personality ... hmmph and that’s not weird at all - and stopped the capture when I was done. Next, I got to play. Because there was no way that I could type as fast as I needed to tell the story I didn’t try – that’s because I can then come right into screen flow (and btw, yes, you can do this in camtasia on a PC) and edit out the parts where I wasn’t doing anything. Or where I made a mistake. See how this works? On the screen, I’m typing. I pause. Then I start typing again. Well, to get that pause out, I just put my little timeline indicator where I stop typing, set something called an in-point – then I move forward to the time right before I start typing again, set and outpoint – and hit delete! That gets rid of that pause, and bang – I’m now picking up the pace like a boss. Once I’ve done my trimming and editing, I can play some more. Some folks were asking me how I get those fancy moves and zooms for my video when I’m not in keynote or powerpoint. Well, here are my moves – let me show you them. There’s a function here called VIDEO ACTION. I’m just gonna add it to the video that’s here in my timeline. Now, if I put my timeline indicator right before the video action marker, you can see my screen looks a certain way. Lemme move the indicator to after that marker, and now, I’m going to change the way my screen looks – I’m just gonna zoom in a bit, and rotate the view around. Lets see what that looks like once I play it back – pretty cool eh? And that’s pretty much all there is to those kinds of effects. Seriously, you can do some funky stuff with video actions. All right, so, I’ve edited the show, I’ve got my moves all set up, now we need to add us some music. (Elevator music from Cake Baking] No no, owe quit it. Fair warning – I do a LOT of custom composing. I dig scoring video as much as I dig the other stuff. I know – weird. But let me just tell you – you may NEVER, EVER write a note of music to give your videos an awesome score. Check this out – this site is called www.musicbakery.com Just listen to how awesome some of their soundtracks are. I’ve actually used this one before. There’s LOTS of places that I go to get Royalty Free music – like royaltyfreemusic.com and I’ve already showed you 2 from the last video. Remember the Animation Factory – yep – they’ve got music too, and some of it’s real good. And check out digital juice as well – they’ve got a TON of professionally composed stuff. Picking the RIGHT track or set of tracks for your show is a whole nuther conversation – but to help you get started, here’s some advice that I tell newly minted video producers. Go for the Goosebumps. Always, play back your edited show on your computer while you’re auditioning music. Don’t try to pick a track without seeing the visuals of your show. Be patient – yeah, you might end up auditioning dozens of cuts before you suddenly hear something that makes your pulse race or the hair on the back of your neck stand up. TRUST your gut on this – if the music supports the emotion that you’re trying to get across in that part of your video without fighting with the mood – it’s a winner. Once you’ve got your cuts, just take them into the editing program you’re using – like I did here with Screen flow – and yes, you can do this with camtaisa – in fact, if a bit of software refers to itself as a video editing app, you should be able to add another track of audio to you slug your music in. Then, it’s just a question of balancing the level. Start off my lowering your music track to 25% volume or so of its original volume if you have voice over playing at the same time. Just adjust the volume of your music until you can easily hear what your voice track is saying. If the music sounds too loud to you, it’s gonna sound too loud to your viewer – and that’s the only rule you need to go by right now. Speaking of Voice Over – remember how I showed you that 40$ microphone that I got from target in the first video? Yeah – that’s one of the mics that I use. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve spent some time understanding how to engineer audio over the years, and there’s some kung-fu that I --- me sound less like a dork. But here’s an important tip that I want you to know about. One of the ways you can make your voice sound velvety and delicious is to take the microphone boom on your headset, and adjust it so that it’s just in line with your jaw. You see, the bones of your jaw are shaped a bit like a tuning fork – so they resonate – and also when you have the mic boom closer to your chest, the mic will not only pick up the resonation from your jawbone, but the boominess from your chest. ON the other hand, if you start sounding too much like Barry Whites cousin, tilt the boom mic until it’s just even with tip of your nose – do a little test recording, and see how it sounds. Pick which one you like, and BAM! I know - this sounds all pretty easy, right? You wanna know why? It’s one thing to goto to NYU Film School. It’s another thing to spend $50,000 to go to school at a place like Full Sail University and learn about video production. That’s all cool, but once you’re done with that year process, you’re not any closer to understanding what to do to MARKET with video than you were when you did your first test shoot with the camera cap still on the lens. This sounds easy because we’re only concentrating on what we need to do to MARKET with video – not be all super geeky and understand EVERY single nuance of Professional Video Production Techniques. I’ve got that part under control., I’ll just filter the important stuff to you. And I’m not telling you this to brag or anything – I’m telling you because I swear, the hardest video you will ever make is your first one. It ALL gets easier after that. Just do a few, and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Show em to you cat if you’re really freaked out, then try an in-law if you really want criticism... uh, feedback. The point is, you need to know that I started out just like you. The only reason I’m any good, is because I’ve got a head start and that’s the truth.. [SLIDE] So lets fix that right now – I’ve been doing and teaching Traffic Getting strategies for about 6 years. And because of some of the comments that were left on the first 2 videos, I went ahead and made a short-course on Traffic Getting with Video.[SLIDE] Step 1 is getting distribution – that means uploading your video to as many video sharing sites as possible. Now, It’s time again for another heart to heart –I know, this is pretty early on in the process for such candor – here’s the thing, video formats, codecs, bit rates, aspect ratios, FLV, H.264, MP4 Killa Hutz frame rate – all that stuff that makes your head hurt – and more importantly, keeps you from using video? Just forget about all that lingo for a moment. if you’re nervous or freaked out about the tech stuff, then Repeat after me – perfection is the lowest standard of achievement. DOING is the highest. DO something, look at what you’ve done, improve it if you can, and keep on keeping. Do NOT worry about getting it right the first, or heck, any time. I’ve been doing video, tv, and film for since 92 and I still make huge guffaws – check it out – look at the LAST video I just did – see here, I completely FORGOT an entire word. This is supposed to read “Best Friend”. Woops. But didn’t stop me. Don’t let it stop you either. When you export your videos from Keynote, Camtaisa, movie maker, iMovie, Adobe, Vegas, Pinnacle – whatever you use to make your videos, just follow my advice here. The specifications for your movie file that I want you to use are designed so you can upload your video to video sharing sites – these are NOT specs if you host video from your own servers with your own video player (And you know if that’s what you’re trying to do) – I don’t want you to mess with that right now. So, here’s the specs – Out of your multi-media program, You want to export as an MP4 file, using the H.264 codec. That’s the KIND of file and KIND of encoding we’re going to use – it’s the latest greatest all the rage format – and for our purposes, it’s awesome. Next, we’re gonna pick a video size. 2 Options Here (Of course theres more, but lets keep it simple). Option one is 640 pixels wide by 480 pixels tall. That’s called Standard Definition for Computer Playback. The other option is a widescreen HD format – the size that WE are going to use is 1280 pixels wide by 720 Pixels tall- also known as 720p. Now, we have to specify a bit rate for the video. And here’s where things get simple, believe it or not… Because we are going to use the free version of a service called Tube Mogal, all we need to do is get CLOSE to a manageable bit rate. Lemme tell you about Tube Mogal real quick. Tube Mogul is a distribution service. It will take a video that you’ve uploaded and automatically post it to over 2 dozen video sharing sites. How handy is that? It gets better – it has a built in Video Encoding Engine that will automatically optimize your video for Web playback on those video sharing sites. It sniffs your file and determines if your video specs match the desired specs of the video sharing sites it’s going to distribute it to. And if your file falls outside of those parameters, it will automatically re-encode it so that it will. BooYa. So, when you pick the bandwidth or bitrate of your file as you’re exporting it – we’re going to make it BIGGER than we normally would – so that way, if Youtube, or Viddler, or Metacafe decides to rencode it, they’ll have a lot of good data to work with. So, set your Video Bandwidth to 1500kilo bits per second, and your audio bandwidth to 128kilo bits per second. And just so you know, this is about 2 times bigger than I would use if I was hosting my own video instead of uploading to video sharing sites through TubeMogul. You’ll have to set up your account at TubeMogul first, and that will take a few minutes because you’ll have to have accounts at all of the video sharing sites you want to post to. But their free, which is cool. Once you’re done, use their upload feature and your video gets blasted out into the web-o-sphere.[SLIDE] Step 2 So, now, you’re distributed. You’ve got you some distribution. Now, lets get your videos seen. In the first video, I explained the concept of Back Links. These are links from web pages on other web sites that have hyper links back to the page you want to rank for. You see, Links from Web Pages are like VOTES. The more votes you have, the more chance you have to win the election – at least, that’s the theory. What we need to do is get some links back to our newly posted online videos. The two big questions are – which Video Sharing Site are we gonna promote, and how are we gonna get links to promote it with? Let me answer the first part of that question – You will (Eventually) want to get links to ALL of the video sharing sites that you post your video to. But to get started fast, you’re going to concentrate on getting links to your video on YouTube. Why? Because YouTube is responsible for 1 out of every 3 online video views. There are days that it gets more traffic than Google. And consider this – lets say that YouTube has 10 BILLION videos hosted on it. Well, way back in 2008, Google reported that it has 1 TRILLION web pages indexed. Who KNOWS what it’s got now. So, lets see, close to the same traffic, one one hundredth the number of pages competing for visitor attention. We loves us some YouTube. Lets go get some links to our YouTube Video. The first thing we’re going to do is create our own linking opportunities. Here’s what I mean: Remember that script that you wrote for your video? Take a time out, and modify it enough so that it can stand on it’s own as blog post, or an article, or a news story. Then, at the end of that newly modified script, I want you to create a Hyper link that links to your YouTube Video. Then, we’re going to take that newly modified script, and start distributing it to web sites that we can create and control. Now, the obvious first few places you’re going to post it is on web properties you already control, like your web site, your blog, any social media pages you have. Let me give you some ideas. In the realm of the blog-o-sphere, you can create free accounts at Blogger.com (Which is owned by Google) Wordpress.org LiveJournal.com MyBlog.com Tumblr.com And Typepad.com You can get a Free Google Site Account and create a page with your script on it. And don’t forget your free Google Profile Page either. And here’s a couple other popular places that you can distribute your modified script to: There’s SQUIDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dotcom. And Posterus.com Then, we’re gonna distribute our script to some article directories. Here’s a few places to get you started. Buzzle.com ArticleDatabase.com iSnare.com ArticleCity.com And don’t forget the obvious places to post your script – like Linked In, and try starting a FaceBook Fan Page and post your script there. And then head over to your favorite social bookmarking places like Digg, Stumble Upon, Spurl, Feedmarker, SpotBack, Connectedy, and Folkd. That’s over 20 places you can start linking with (Which would put you squarely in competition with our cake bakeing video makers) –and let me just tell you – I haven’t even scratched the surface here – You can become an authority in your niche just by being helpful in community forums – If someone has a question about a product, or service that you’re promoting with video, just answer themScre with a link to your video. Oh, and if you’re really bold, try issuing a press release about your new YouTube Video. It will cost ya a few bucks, but the exposure might get ya noticed – some Press Release submission services reach thousands of news sites, and some of them will even let you submit your video right along with your press release. Look at PRWeb.com, WiredPRNews.com eReleases.com, OpenPR.com and PRLeap.com just to get ya warmed up. Seriously, that’s just the tip of the nipple on places you can get links from, but I don’t mind telling you, that’s a real good start. WOW – another whirlwind training video. I know this one was real dense – so feel free to download it and watch it as many times as you want. (My amazon S3 account will thank you). - but I hope one of your big takeaways is that video has endless possibilities for traffic and conversion. Lets do a quick review: In video 1 – we talked about how so many people are afraid of doing video marketing that they’re doing nothing, and how that’s leaving massive gaps and opportunities for you to clean up while others sit on their hands and wait. In Video #2, I showed you the FAB Script writing formula, how to Hook your viewers, and how to use simple presentation software to quickly create videos that SELL. And in this video, I showed you how to I made a quirky little parody based on Googles Superbowl ad, how to use music to enhance your message, how to distribute dozens of videos to video sharing sites, and a strategy for repurposing your script as content to get back links to your videos so they start ranking in the search engines. And even though sometimes we moved at lightning speed, I’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible. So, whats next? I don’t think it’s a secret – you’re an internet marketer and I’m pretty sure you already know that this is leading up to the release of a new product. And that’s one of the reasons I made these free videos for you – it was sort of like an audition. After watching them, I wanted you to be able to say “This dude walks the walk” like a boss. So, seriously – how’d I do? Well, here’s the thing... I want to be clear – I am blown-away, flattered and slightly embarrassed at how excited people are about this program – some of them must be reading the tea leaves and saw it coming as far back as video 1. But, I’m honestly a little concerned that some folks are too excited. 6 people have already tried to put their credit card numbers into the comments! (Don’t do that by the way). So many people want to buy before they even know what it is, what it costs, and if it’s right for them. Which means, I’m going to be so totally transparent with you, that it might get a little weird. I know that’s not what one generally expects to hear from an Internet Marketer – but ya know, you’ve made it this far, you’re and adult that there’s really no upside to whatever future relationship we’ll have if I try to drop a whiz bang pitch video on your head. I’d much rather have an adult conversation. In the next video, I’m gonna do the unthinkable. I’m not going to use be doing any Hypnotic Editing, or using wiz-bang zippy effects. I’ve got a lot of information to share with you, so lets get started. Uh Hem. [Wiz Bang Opening] Kidding Kidding… Couldn’t resist. Lemme tell ya tell ya a quick story. Wont take 2 minutes - This coaching program, affectionately known as the video boss was actually an idea that I had way back around 2005, right around the time I was working on a feature film about Aliens and Rednecks – true story. The film was called Altered. It was like Night of the Living Dead meets Forrest Gump, but with Flannel. A division of Universal, called Rogue Pictures picked it up based partly on the reputation of the filmmakers (I’ll get to that in a minute), and they sure seemed pretty excited to release the film. Then, something really unexpected happened. Another division of Universal, called Focus Features had an unlikely hit on their hands. Oh, Sorry, Sorry. Here ya go. No no, that one was my bad. Now, look, I’m down with cowboy love stories as much as the next...dude, but wait until you hear what happened next. Out of nowhere, Brokeback Mountain started burning up the box office. I’ll never forget the day that the head of Universal Pictures took us producers into his Manhattan corner office and essentially said, “Guys, we’re kinda busy and to be honest, your film is so unusual that we don’t really know what to do with it.” Why can’t I quit you? So that’s how it worked in Hollywood. And then, in 2005, YouTube was born. Here’s the thing - The day after that meeting, I swore that I’d never let the FEW decide what the many get to see, again. And that’s the genesis of The Video Boss. For all but the most recent history, making good Video and distributing it far and wide for profit has been a game for the rich , the super-technical, and the powerful industry elite. Well, not anymore. Let me tell you how this is gonna work. There’s a lot to cover because The Video Boss has a lot to offer, so we’re gonna move fast. The first Module of the Video Boss Program is called the Video Universe. In it, you’ll learn the entire video producing process, from Script to Screen and beyond. The Lab has one purpose – to show you actual operations and processes that you learn from Module One, but see happen them as they would be done by me. We’ll start out by reverse engineering 2 scripts, and when I say reverse engineer, we’re talking sentence by sentence, and sometimes, even word-by-word precision. You’ll know what was on my mind when I wrote that script, and what my goal was for each important pivot and how it turned out. I’ll show you a live Voice Over Recording Session, walk you through some Voice Over editing tips and tricks that will permanently remove any performance anxiety you have. Then I’ll show you the voice effects that I use to make me sound NOT LAME. And here’s a special bit of fun – I’ll show you how I use a free piece of software to scrub out any noise I have on my tracks – and the settings that I use to punch up my voice quality from “Kid from New Jersey” to “Older dude with slight lisp that sounds like he sorta knows what he’s doing”. Heh. In the audio engineering business, we call that Sweetening. How appropriate. You’ll keep looking over my shoulder as we unravel what I do for powerpoint and keynote Slide Creation, Slide recording and capture – you’ll learn one little process that I do which makes my voice over performance sound smooth and fluid, which helps keep the pace tight and the viewer engaged. And just like I TELL you in the Video Universe Module, in The Laboratory, I’ll SHOW you various encoding settings, and what their effect will be on your finished product. Once you’re done with this part, you’ll have the knowledge to compress your videos to the max, without compromising their visual integrity. Now, before we talk about Module 3, I need to get a disturbing rumor dealt with now. [Cue BrokeBack Image] Stop it. For the first 75% of my Online Video Marketing career, I worked on a Windows-based personal computer. During the last 2 years of my full time employment in the radio, TV, and Film Industry, I worked on a Windows-Based Personal Computer. So, if you’re not on a Mac, can you still make killer videos? OF COURSE YOU CAN. First of all, the editing software that I use is cross-platform – meaning it’s on both a mac and pc. PowerPoint is Cross Platform, meaning its on both a mac and PC – and just like I’ve said 2 times in 2 videos, I use powerpoint almost as often as I use Apple’s keynote. Powerpoint has some graphical and design tools that Keynote can’t even get close to. It’s 3-D graphics and WordArt effects SMOKE Keynote’s design tools. Period. The Video Boss Course is Platform Agnostic. I don’t care if you’re running open source tools on Linux – it’s not about the software, its WHAT TO DO with what you USE. For example – when I teach audio, the settings for the Audio Compressor ratio and Noise Gate threshold have the same effect no matter what Audio program you’re using. I have and use a PC with PowerPoint, Camtasia, Adobe’s Editing Suite, and a couple of dozen other tools sitting right next to my Mac. I’ve got ya covered. Let me see if I can’t sum this up in a silly simple way – It’s Not the ARROW that makes the difference – it’s the archer. So, for anyone who thinks the first lesson of Video Boss is “Buy a Apple and get Keynote”, rest your mind. The biggest product release video I ever made was with 30 day trial software of Camtaisa, Powerpoint, and an older version of that mic I keep showing you that I got at Target. All done on a PC I got from Tiger Direct – in 2006. Be the Archer first – then decide which arrow’s you’ll fire. MmmmmKay? Now, this next part is really important. When I teach, I teach UP. that means is, I don’t place any artificial limitations on what I think you’ll eventually want to do with video. And that’s one of the reasons that this program is so dense. So, for example - No, you may NEVER use a Video Camera to record even a single frame of live video, but just in case you WANT TO… You’ve got a Full Module – The third in our series 3 – Lights, Camera, Sets, Action. You know that I don’t personally get in front of the camera too often, but I’ve lost COUNT on the number of times I’ve been behind the camera. If you have a product or service that could really benefit from the use of Live Video, like say real estate tours, exercise programs, vacation packages, assembly or demonstration videos, talking head videos, expert interviews – even if that expert is YOU – I’ve got ya covered. If you’ve ever had one of those eye-glazing over losing consciousness moments when propeller heads start talking about White Balance, Focal Length, or Depth of Field – this module will square that stuff for ya. I’ll show you how to set up your camera, the right white balance and color temperature settings to use, and most importantly - how to compose your shot. Yeah, we’ll learn lingo like Establishing shot Wide Shot, Medium Shot, Head and Shoulders shot, Xtreme Close up shot – and when to use them. I’ll show you the rules that the professionals follow. I’ll walk you through important check lists too – like the pros and cons of shooting ON Location vs. in a Studio. In fact, I’ll even show you how to set up a little HOME Studio with some stuff called Muslin and Seamless – and this stuff looks so good that your viewer will think you’re in a sound stage. We’ll talk about Live Audio, and the best ways you can capture clean and shiny sounding audio from your on-camera talent. And speaking of On-Camera Talent – have you every heard the expression “In Their Eye-line” or “Performance Line Reading”? If you haven’t, I’ll tell you why you’re NOT getting the very best performance for the people you’re interviewing or the amateur actors that you’re using – and how to not tick off the pro’s that you might eventually use. Then I’ll show you how to do it like a boss. What about Lighting? Oh yeah – there will be lighting instruction. We’ll talk about all shapes and style of lighting equipment. From the kind you can by at your local hardware department store, to the Just Getting Started Light Kits, all the way to the “Step Back, I’m a Director of Photography” lighting instruments. I’ll also show you how to Light your scene – and that means where to set up your lights in relation to the subject your photographing. You’ll also understand contrast ratios, so you’ll know how much light to use in order to create a visually interesting, if not spectacular looking shot. And of course, we’ll talk about Camera Angles, something called B-Roll, the 180-Degree Rule, and Continuity (Not the Marketing Kind) and learn enough other essential skills so you’ll be confident you can shoot whatever your marketing videos need – and do it well. Before I talk about Module 4 - Edit Like a Pro, lemme just tell you how the Video Boss Coaching Program will work. This program is what’s called a Scheduled Course. That means that I release the modules based on Time – one module per week. That way, we can work from the beginning to the end of the program in order, together. And he’ll show you a little trick to get your videos to show up multiple times in the search engines. Actually, there is ONE more thing – it’s about using a competitors ego against them to get their viewing audience to become YOUR viewing audience. [Cue Evil Laughter]. And the final part of Traffic Boss is delicious chocolate cake. Video Distribution is pretty important. And WOW have I been blown away by how many responses I got! One common thing women shared was their frustration at their man for not "opening up" about the affair and sharing what really happened. Here's how one woman put it: "How can I let go of this situation and my resentment if I cannot get full details about what went on? Sometimes I think he's resisting giving me the full story because he doesn't want to hurt me anymore; sometimes I think he truly does not remember what he said or did because it didn't really mean that much to him. How do I move on if I can't get all the details that I think I need?" - Anonymous ================= MY RESPONSE ================= First off, let me say getting cheated on and feeling that your partner is holding back important information about the affair is enough to drive ANYONE crazy. But some people don't get this. Namely, most THERAPISTS. While there are some really good therapists out there who do really good work, helping couples recover from infidelity is one area where therapists often don't have very much success. And there's one PART of recovering from infidelity that most therapists do an out right CRAPPY job with: It's their approach to handling the sharing of details about the affair. In one survey, over half of therapists believe they should encourage couples to NOT talk about the details of the affair... Instead, these therapists believe they should suggest to just "move on" and discuss how to strengthen the relationship. This still just floors me. In my humble opinion, it's complete and utter HOGWASH.. You're trying to tell me after the person you love most on god's green earth has sex with someone else, you're supposed to sweep it under the rug, not talk about it, and instead just focus on improving the marriage? The absurdity of this makes my head spin. Unfortunately many people have written in to me and told me this is exactly what their own therapist did. Even in my own case, one of the therapists we saw - who was highly recommended - basically told us to do a marathon 3-hour joint session with him where I could ask all the questions I wanted... But then afterwards I was to NEVER bring it up again. Sadly I bought into this approach... And then when I DID bring the affair up later, my wife had "ammo" to tell me I was wrong for doing it. "You're not supposed to do that! The therapist said you can't!" Most therapists take this same approach. Questions are discouraged. Not only does common sense tell us this is dumb, but science does too. Here's what I mean: The researcher Shirley Glass did a survey of 1083 couples where one partner cheated. Those couples who talked about the affair very little had a 55% chance of staying married. But those couples who talked a lot about the affair had a 86% chance. In other words, it REALLY helped to talk about it. Here's something else the research uncovered: When the unfaithful spouse refused to answer questions about the affair, there was only a 31% chance of rebuilding trust in the relationship. But when they answered all questions about the affair, that number went up to 72%. Answering questions more than DOUBLED the likelihood of putting the trust back in the relationship. The lesson? If you want the best chance of saving your relationship and restoring trust, talking about the affair is one of the most important things you can do. I call it "Full Disclosure." I talked about it in a previous newsletter and I go in-depth on this topic in my Survive His Affair System. So the tip for the day? You need to overcome your man's resistance (in the right way) and get every question you genuinely have about the affair answered. If you have a little voice in your head telling you, "It's not that big of a deal. Don't be petty..." then DON'T LISTEN to it. Be assertive. Make your requests. See how he responds. You don't necessarily need to know every possible aspect of the affair - but you do need to know everything you FEEL you need to know. He did a masterful job of walking us through the process of “extraction, removal, and future prevention” Check. But his proposal? Was an all or nothing deal. No optional “Phase I” to get things started… Like: Identify creature ($200 bucks) Then, once the thing was actually identified… Outline a Phase 2 removal plan / cost structure. Instead… This guy priced his bid like we were 100% definitely dealing with a 75 lb. mass of rabid flesh in our attic. And that if we did NOTHING? The possum apocalypse was about to descend on us from up above… In other words: He oversold it. Lesson #2 - Misplaced Risk Reversal (Mistake #2) Now, when the guy quoted us his service… To his credit, he DID offer us a guarantee: Critter will be removed and won’t come back, guaranteed. Fine. But what if it turns out NOT to be a possum? Do we get a partial refund? So, instead of saying “this offer expires in 7 days” you can say “this offer expires {!date long+7}” and Aweber will auto insert the date seven days from now. You have multiple options for displaying the date (see above). Taking our example of a 7-day sales funnel, the first email would have an expire date of {!date long+7}, and the next day’s email will have an expire date of {!date long+6}, then {!date long+5}, until it hits {!date long+0}. This way, it doesn’t matter when subscribers sign up to the list. The will get all get a custom hard deadline date that is way more effective than “expiring in x days.”
