• When I read The Fault in Our Stars

  • When I read Romeo and Juliet in 8th grade

  • When I wrote my little picture book in 1st grade

  • When I wrote my essay on Margaret Thatcher in 7th grade

  • When I wrote my personal narrative about how music is my inspiration.

  • I realized that writing didn’t always have to be about a magical adventure, it could be thought provoking and real.

  • I realized then that I really like romances and the way plays are written. They’re easy to read and I felt good while reading the play in particular. I understood it like I never imagined I would.

  • This was when I realized that I could be a writer. That you didn’t have to be in high school or be and adult to write. My little 1st grade self realized that I too, could write.

  • This is when I realized how hard research papers are, but how amazing you feel when you realize you just wrote 10 pages on Margaret Thatcher.

  • This is when I first realized how much passion I had as a writer. I wrote my entire essay on how much I love music and how I feel when I listen to music. I loved how my essay really showed how I felt about music.

  • I remember reading the ebook version at first and then switching to the hard copy. I remember almost being brought to tears as I read it one night as I fell asleep.

  • I remember the intense anticipation of starting a new book and the instant disappointment of finding out that it was Romeo and Juliet. I remember the warm car ride where I first realized how much I liked it.

  • I remember being assigned this assignment and the excitement of drawing a story and creating something great.

  • I remember the extreme exhaustion of being awake until 3 in the morning, but then the massive relief of finally finishing. I remember the day I started writing was the day she died.

  • I remember getting chills as I wrote my original journal entry, and not having to worry about what story I would use for my big personal essay.
