    i think the topics discussed ought to be timeless, rather than fads that are just in the news.

    Yeah, of course. Scroll down to see a list of potential topics, or look at the links to the threads in the NEWS AND UPDATES SECTION above.

    quick comments on pages and meta discussions ought to look like this for improved readability:
    // comment
    //elaboration needed
    // citation needed
    // add statistic

    //comment (like this?)
    yes, Headline // bold text is bold
    Red text// this needs editing
    “Quote” // don’t think that’s an accurate quote

    how can i move a card?
    click and drag the upper-right corner

    Why should /pol/ be uncontroversial?
    a) that’s impossible anyway, since the topics discussed on /pol/ are highly controversial among non /pol/ users
    we don't have to credit the book to /pol/
    b) the board is called politically incorrect, nomen est omen
    c) who wants to read an uncontroversial /pol/ book?
    It's for the general public to influence opinion. People aren't going to read it or take it seriously if it is full of things they already hate.

  • [discussion] Topics to cover and not cover

    Discuss which topics to include or not include in separate notes in the middle or right sections (put [discussion] in the title, or in a currently active /pol/ thread.

    Improvements to the list will be made as different Drafts in the middle section.

    Reasons to not include a topic: too controversial or offensive to the general public. Not enough sources to back it up.

  • To Do List

    Some of these steps must be finished before others can be started. For example step 1.

  • Guidelines for Collaborators

    1. Before contributing, familiarize yourself with the Gingko app. First watch the video to get a basic idea. Then create your own tree (upper right corner) and play around with it. We don’t want people accidentally deleting things here.
    2. Occasionally export the entire project in HTML or Markup (upper right corner). Optionally, portions of the exported file can be uploaded to Pastebin or other websites for backup, review, or easy-viewing.
    3. General project discussions will start at the root level (left side) and will have a title starting with [discussion]. Discussions and comments about specific sections of the project can be done at the same or lower hierarchical level of those sections. For this use either a new card with a title starting with [discussion], or add red text directly inside of the related card. Red text is enclosed between a ` character on each side. Before publication, we will export the project, then take out all of the [discussion] and red text items.
    4. Work on any section of the project you want.
  • Project Goal

    The goal of this project is to educate the general public about the common beliefs and values of /pol/ in order to create a better society. To reach this wider audience, we must write with their prejudices and expectations in mind.

    After completion, this white paper will be converted to PDF and several other electronic formats and distributed free-of-charge through as many distributers, file sharing services, social networks, and websites as possible.

    If the white paper is not reaching our audience, then marketing strategies may be needed. There are many different kinds of marketing strategies…

    If the white paper is met with repulsion or derision by the general public, we might need to revise it.

    If “betterment of society” is too vague for you, think about it like this. You want a better social and political environment for your children to grow up in. This is accomplished by influencing the way that the people who make up that environment think. (Different thoughts create different behaviors.) You can influence the way people think by giving them information, such as the information that will be contained in this white paper.

  • Why Gingko?

    After trying a few different collaborative writing tools and note-taking applications, so far this one has all of the features needed for this project.

    • Hierarchical structure so that all of the information stays organized and easy-to-access.
    • Easy to download the entire project as a backup in a universal format
    • Uses the simple Markup formatting, which is compatible with many different editing tools (if project migration is needed) and easy to convert to any other format, including web-page, ebook, or PDF.
    • Simple collaboration
    • Seems reliable
  • Overall Guidelines for the Project

    1. This project will have strict quality control. It is intended for as wide an audience as possible, not our just own enjoyment. This means:

      • No meme language or greentext
      • No racist language
      • No conspiracy theories
      • Write with clarity and simplicity in mind. Try not to ramble. If you see someone having difficulty expressing an idea, feel free to help them. See George Orwell’s “Politics and the English Language” if your writing is too wordy and academic-sounding for the general public.
      • All sources should be reliable. All claims should be backed up by sources. Our whitepaper will be dismissed by the general public if it is not based on evidence and facts.
    2. There is no rush for this project, so there’s no reason for sloppy work. Writing quick first drafts is fine, but make sure you or someone else goes back later to fix it up.

    3. The project will by credited to Anonymous, /pol/, or some other general name. In any case, none of us will receive individual credit for this paper, and we should all remain anonymous for the duration of the project. No one will get money for working on this project. The goal is only the education and betterment of society.

    4. Avoid using terms that your audience is not familiar with. Always define your terms first, even if it is just a short sentence

  • If you’re commenting on a card, you can put your comments in the next card to it’s right.

    you can use red text to reply to comments

    or maybe just your name “Anon32”

    TOPICS TO NOT COVER and WHY

    Explicitly saying 9/11 was a conspiracy because that would discredit the book and lump us with “truthers”. We can say it indirectly or show other evidence that people can use to deduce this fact.

    JEWS because it would make us sound pretty racist. Even the word “zionist” is too general and sounds a bit like antisemitism to some people. Try to be as specific as possible about who you are talking about.

    NIGGERS. We can talk about the general problems in multiculturalism, but once again better to stay away from racism.

    ILLUMINATI. We’ll be lumped with tinfoilers and retards, even if illuminati does exist. Just be specific about individuals and organizations instead of labeling people as illuminati or NWO.

  • #**On Moral Relativism**#

    FOR the sake of this short discussion, there are two ways to categorise morality:

    • Absolute; definite; those that are able to be proven and disproven; those which can be placed on a spectrum with an observable and objective measure
    • Relative; freeform; those which only need to be true ‘in the eye of the beholder’; which cannot be invalidated but by the same stroke validated in any way, shape, or form.

    It boils down to the phrase,

    'Yeah? Well, that's just like your opinion, man.'

    It’s what I think, and it’s my choice, and you can’t disprove my morality because it’s all a perspective.

    This is not logically sound.

    As you ought to know by now, any rational thought follows the guidelines that everything must have a founding in truth, logic, a beginning, an end, et cetera.

    When someone advocates ‘moral relativism’ based off of the logic that you can’t possibly disprove their ideals - for it’s all a matter of “perspective” - they simultaneously destroy the very basis of their ideals, as it is only their ‘view’, or so to speak. Hence, moral relativism is in truth an advocacy for an amoral temperament, or perhaps more accurately a baseless modus operandi in regards to life.

    Moral relativism, I think you will find, is the factory setting for the “ideals” of the masses, and so it is important to detach yourself from it as quickly as you can if you want some kind of spiritual centre. Yes, what many see as the modern day hole in the human condition is in essence the casting out of traditional and classical values and instead adopting an empty, dead husk of a moral centre.

    Reading material: stoic philosophy, cynic philosophy, plato, et cetera.

  • #**On Supply and Demand**#

    NB: This is the pure basics of supply and demand

    ECONOMICS is the study of material wealth, in essence. That said, it is important not to assume it as mutually exclusive from forming spiritual wealth.

    In terms of an item, let’s say, beer, there is a given amount of demand for it and a given supply of it in a market.

    The Law of Demand - As the price of beer goes down, people will be more willing to buy it, and so the demand for beer goes up.

    The Law of Supply - As the price of beer goes up, people would be more willing to sell it (as they make more money), and so the supply of beer goes up.

    This forms a basic demand and supply diagram:

    Where they intersect is called the ‘equilibrium price’, the price at which each unit supplied will be sold and everyone in the market is satisfied.

    If the price is any higher than this, supply will outpace demand, and you have an oversupply, or ‘glut’.

    If the price is any lower, demand outpaces supply and you have an undersupply or ‘shortage’.

    Now, naturally, the price will gravitate towards the equilibrium price.

    • In a glut, suppliers will cut the price to sell all of their units, and so you return to equilibrium.
    • In a shortage, suppliers will up the price to make more money per sale (as they are already selling each unit), and demand drops to compensate - hence returning to equilibrium.

    These are the principles of the basic free market, and the bare bones basics of economics.

    • Sources have to be reliable. [Describe what constitutes a reliable source.]
    • If you can’t find reliable sources for your claims, then simply don’t include your claims even if they are probably true. We don’t want the entire project discredited by the perception that it contains “speculation.”

All claims should be backed up by sources. Our whitepaper will be dismissed by the general public if it is not based on evidence and facts.\n\n2. Well, that's just like your opinion, man.'`\n\nIt's what I think, and it's my choice, and you can't disprove my morality because it's all a perspective.\n\nThis is not logically sound.\n\nAs you ought to know by now, any rational thought follows the guidelines that everything must have a founding in truth, logic, a beginning, an end, et cetera.\n\nWhen someone advocates 'moral relativism' based off of the logic that you can't possibly disprove their ideals - for it's all a matter of \"perspective\" - they simultaneously destroy the very basis of their ideals, as it is only their 'view', or so to speak. Hence, moral relativism is in truth an advocacy for an amoral temperament, or perhaps more accurately a baseless modus operandi in regards to life.\n\nMoral relativism, I think you will find, is the factory setting for the \"ideals\" of the masses, and so it is important to detach yourself from it as quickly as you can if you want some kind of spiritual centre. Yes, what many see as the modern day hole in the human condition is in essence the casting out of traditional and classical values and instead adopting an empty, dead husk of a moral centre.\n\nReading material: stoic philosophy, cynic philosophy, plato, et cetera."},{"_id":"49902670a21d179004000021","treeId":"4985ba5adbff465b2000000d","seq":729717,"position":5,"parentId":"4986f5eddbff465b20000023","content":"#**On Supply and Demand**#\n\n`NB: This is the pure basics of supply and demand`\n\nECONOMICS is the study of material wealth, in essence. That said, it is important not to assume it as mutually exclusive from forming spiritual wealth.\n\nIn terms of an item, let's say, beer, there is a given amount of demand for it and a given supply of it in a market.\n\n*The Law of Demand* - As the price of beer goes down, people will be more willing to buy it, and so the demand for beer goes up.\n\n*The Law of Supply* - As the price of beer goes up, people would be more willing to sell it (as they make more money), and so the supply of beer goes up.\n\nThis forms a basic demand and supply diagram:\n\n![](http://i.investopedia.com/inv/tutorials/site/economics/economics5.gif)\n\nWhere they intersect is called the 'equilibrium price', the price at which each unit supplied will be sold and everyone in the market is satisfied.\n\nIf the price is any higher than this, supply will outpace demand, and you have an oversupply, or 'glut'.\n\nIf the price is any lower, demand outpaces supply and you have an undersupply or 'shortage'.\n\nNow, naturally, the price will gravitate towards the equilibrium price.\n * In a glut, suppliers will cut the price to sell all of their units, and so you return to equilibrium.\n * In a shortage, suppliers will up the price to make more money per sale (as they are already selling each unit), and demand drops to compensate - hence returning to equilibrium.\n\nThese are the principles of the basic free market, and the bare bones basics of economics."},{"_id":"49879db9823695384200000f","treeId":"4985ba5adbff465b2000000d","seq":732063,"position":4,"parentId":null,"content":"## To Do List\n\nSome of these steps must be finished before others can be started.
